Solyoni - The Princess Market
Solyoni is one part Jack Kerouac, two parts, sonorous dystopia, and a little bit of comsic effluvia thrown in for good measure. This latest release, off of indie label, Velvet Fallopian Tube, displays a marked proficiency for maintaining a line of quasi-surreal goodness, with lyrics that represent a broad array of experience and virtue. The dynamic that holds this eleven song lineup is something of a diary, for the joy, trial and display of existence, binding their eclectic.
The main website is notable for its ‘visual diary’ section, which represents a variety of gatherings, from a CD release party, through several recording sessions, into the morass of a roadtrip gone haywire. The photos reveal sides of the band, and their history, which would be inaccesible, in any other way though the songs themselves do serve this purpose in a variegated manner. In all there is enough here, between the net and disc to satisfy even the most ardently hungry soul in search of tasteful pop-rock. The short time since their inception has logged over thirty live shows. Come to the next one and help continue this thread.
